Coach Spotlight: Tre Walker
At 6-4, 210, Tre Walker seems to have a knack for being in the right place at the right time. At outside linebacker he was one of the Sunflower league's leaders in interceptions. Very athletic, he's been timed at 4.6 in the 40.
"His high school career was outstanding," said Flood. "He contributed at a high level, was very productive, and his leadership and enthusiasm were invaluable to the success we had. Tre's a high energy guy, hard work, excellent work ethic, with a strong understanding of how to play to the ball."
Walker only received one offer and that was from K-State, although Flood says there were a handful of schools very interested in Walker's services most notably Nebraska where Walker visited. He gave the Wildcats an early April commitment prior to his senior year.
"I think it's a great fit," Flood said of Walker attending Kansas State. "There's no doubt it's a good spot for Tre to be in. He'll get excellent coaching from Coach (Chris) Cosh (K-State Defensive Coordintor and Linebacker coach), who recruited him, as well as Coach Snyder. He looked around a little bit at some other schools, but Tre bleeds purple."
At North, Walker was used at linebacker and also in the H-back role and would get an occasional carry or pass thrown his way. Some schools were looking at him as a running back with his size, speed, and athleticism. Flood thinks Walker's best days are ahead of him in football.
"Tre has strong academics, good character, and has shown tremendous leadership," Flood said. "I feel all of those qualities are products of making a successful football player. He's going to be ready for the challenges that playing at Kansas State will present."
Armogen Bruer Walker, nicknamed "Tre", wore No. 4 for the Eagles. He also played forward on the basketball team. He was honored as Homecoming King at Olathe North High School. When he gets to Manhattan he plans on setting his sights on a business major while making his move up the Wildcat depth chart.
