The Wildcats, who made their first-ever appearance in Baseball America’s Top 25 two weeks ago at a school-best No. 21, bettered that ranking as the publication ranked Kansas State No. 16 in this week’s poll, the biggest jump of any team in the poll.
K-State also earned its first-ever appearances in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ Top 25, checking in at No. 21. Rivals.com, which had the Cats in its top 25 each of the last two weeks, also ranked Kansas State No. 21.
K-State moved up in the NCBWA Top 30, checking in at No. 23 this week, while Collegiate Baseball put Kansas State in its top 30 for the first time this season, ranking the Cats as the 24th-best team in the country.
Kansas State entered all five national polls on the heels of a 2-0-1 series victory at No. 2 Texas last weekend. The Cats held on for a 4-2 win on Friday night as junior ace A.J. Morris tallied his 10th victory of the season, breaking the single-season school record. On Saturday, the Wildcats rallied two different times, scoring twice in the top of the 11th and once in the 12th to hang on for a 5-4 win.
K-State returns home for a short two-game homestand against North Dakota beginning Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Tointon Family Stadium.
