Kansas State will face Louisville in a nationally televised broadcast next week as the Wildcats prepare for the Cardinals September 17. A quick look at the Wildcats.
Kansas State
, fresh off a dominant 69-10 win over Montana State on Saturday, will head into its lone bye week of the season before turning around and facing
Louisville
on Wednesday, September 17, in the Cats' first road test of the season.
The Wildcats and Cardinals will face off at 7 p.m. CT next Wednesday inside Papa John’s Stadium as ESPN2 will carry the contest to the entire nation.
A Quick Look at the Wildcats:
Kansas State continued its efficient ways on offense during Saturday’s 69-10 win over Montana State and also turned up the heat on special teams and in turnover margin.
Josh Freeman
For the second straight game, K-State scored a touchdown on its first play from scrimmage and has taken a total of :08 to score both touchdowns. No other Wildcat team in school history has scored touchdowns on its first play from scrimmage in the first two games of a season.
Also, K-State has scored touchdowns on drives that have had five or fewer plays five times this season, which are the fifth-most in the country through two games.
Quarterback Josh Freeman continues to rank among the nation’s most efficient quarterbacks as the junior completed 16-of-21 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday to up his season efficiency rating to 209.3, which is tops in the Big 12 and fifth nationally.
The Wildcats rolled up 481 yards of total offense and moved up to No. 2 nationally in scoring offense with a 57.0 points per game average. K-State’s 69 points on Saturday were the most since a school-record 76 against
Ball State
in 2000 and were the fourth-most in school history, third-most in the modern era of college football (post-Big Six era).
