"I'm just waiting for my spring grades."

Josh Berard, outside linebacker from Torrance-El Camino, Calif., is anxiously awaiting a move to Manhattan. Read what he says about the future with the Wildcats.

Josh Berard, outside linebacker, Height: 6-foot-2 Weight: 220 lbs. Max bench: 345 lbs. Max squat: 525 lbs.

Academic status:
"I'm almost done transferring everything from El Camino Community College to Kansas State. I'm just waiting for my spring grades to come in."

Thoughts on offseason workouts:

"I'm currently at home working out, so I just hope that what I'm doing over here is enough to live up to the expectations over there (at Kansas State). I'm just working out by myself. I don't have a team to work-out with right now."

Areas of his game he wants to improve:
"I guess just probably being more of a downhill runner against the run and being able to attack the ball carrier."

Expectations for himself and the team:
"For myself, I just want to come on board and be able to contribute. As a team, I'm hoping we can start where we left off at the beginning of last year. We won a lot of games early, but lost some close ones later on due to injuries depleting depth. I want us to get back to how it was at the beginning of last season, when we were winning."

Expected jersey number:
"No idea, but I'm hoping to get No. 40."

Where he would have signed if not with Kansas State:
"Probably Colorado." Teammates he's stayed in contact with the most:
"Billy McClellan and John Finau, my teammate at El Camino."

Thoughts on the coaching staff:
"Basically they all seem like a really good group of guys. They seem like guys that would have your back, and that's the most important thing about a coaching staff. You don't want your coaches to look at you like a piece of meat that you just throw out into a battle. They had my best interest in mind when recruiting me, and were just some really standup guys--and that's every one of them. I didn't have any doubts about anyone on the staff when I met them all."

When he knew Kansas State was the place to commit:
"I knew it was the place I wanted to play at when I was sitting in coach Prince's office for a final meeting on my official visit."
