"TCU moved in a big position to land my signature. The facilities are real nice and they are…
"It felt like home to me."
"I decided on Kansas State because that's where I fit in best," said Tony Gillespie. "It felt like home to me. I have a good relationship with coach [Mo] Latimore and coach [Ron] Prince. What helped make my decision easy was my relationship and bond with those coaches."
"The coaches basically told me they want me to come in and be prepared to take on a role. They have not actually said what I am going to do, but they want me to be ready and in shape."
"I need to keep working on my weaknesses instead of my strengths. I work out every day conditioning wise. I think if I can continue to improve and be in great shape when I arrive then nothing can stop me."
The 6-foot-1.5, 295-pound KState signee was recruited to play defensive tackle. He talks about his strengths and what he hopes to improve.
"I feel like my quickness off the ball is my biggest strength," Gillespie said. "I have great footwork. I am a lot faster than most guys my size. I am working on my hand placement. I have always been bigger, faster and stronger. I didn't have to use fundamentals. I am working on my hand placement and stuff like that."
"I want to show up on campus around 285-290-pounds. I am working out every day. My running back and I are working out with these trainers every day to try in get in great shape."
The Wildcats signed 34 players National Signing Day including 20 junior college players. Gillespie is excited as a part of the big class.
"It's a big recruiting class. We got some big running backs. My friend, Kenny Session, is coming to KSU. We have some good quarterback commitments. I am excited about the class," he stated.
When asked about enrolling at Kansas State Gillespie states, "I will know within the next month when I will enroll. My grades are good. I will be in Manhattan this fall."
Gillespie recorded 96 tackles and was awarded first team All-State, Prep Player of the Year and All-State Daily Oklahoma for his senior season.
