Jacques Caldwell down to Two

Scout.com caught up with Jacques Caldwell who plays tailback and free safety for the Garland Owls, not to mention also returns kicks and punts. However, Caldwell (who goes about 5-foot-8, 170 pounds) projects on the next level as a cornerback/wide receiver more so than as a tailback and/or free safety.

Having said that, we grab the DFW Area stud's four official offers, not to mention which two are in the best position to earn his verbal commitment, summer camp agenda, coaches assigned to win him over, and more below....

Jacques Caldwell, who said he measured in at 5-foot-8, 170 pounds (not to mention clocked a forty time in the 4.4-range) at a Nike camp, is currently boasting four official scholarship offers courtesy of "Louisville, Kansas State, SMU and North Texas." Digging two a bit more than the rest of his suitors, Caldwell fills us in on his Top Two below.

"I'd say my top two teams right now are Louisville and Kansas State," Caldwell told Scout.com.

"Coach Jay Alford is recruiting me for Louisville and Coach Greg Burns is recruiting me for K-State."

While the Cardinals are recruiting the DFW Area stallion as a slot receiver/return specialist the Wildcats like Caldwell as a cornerback/return specialist.

Thoughts on his Top Two?

On The Cardinals: "I am going to visit them next week. I don't know much about them (in terms of seeing what they have to offer up close and personal, campus-wise, facilities/environment/academic-wise...) but I'm going to find out a lot more next week. But I have built a very solid relationship with the (Cardinal) coach (Jay Alford) recruiting me. I've known him since he (successfully) recruited one of my (2006 class) teammates (Devin McDowell to Iowa State."

On The Wildcats: "They're in the Big 12 and one of the rising teams in the North under a new coaching staff. And they're recruiting me as a DB. And they've been putting out a lot of DBs to the League. Hopefully, if I go there, I can become another good DB coming out of K-State."

Summer Camp Agenda: "I went to the North Texas camp July 18, I'm going to SMU this Saturday (July 21) and Louisville next Wednesday (July 25). I might try to hit K-State on the way back from checking out Louisville"

Commitment Time Frame: "I'd like to commit before the season starts in order to have my mind set on playing football instead of what college I'm going to go to."

JR Season Stats (@ RB): "734 yards rushing, 10 TDs, 400 yards receiving, 5 TDs."
JR Season Stats (@ FS): "36 tackles, 2 INTs, 20 PBUs, 2 FF."

JR Season Stats (@ KR/PR): "I averaged at least 10-15 yards per punt return and 20-25 on kick returns. But they didn't kick it to me very often."

Track-And-Field Exploits: "21.08 in the 200 meters, 10.55 in the 100 meters, and I run on the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relays.

Weight Room Numbers: "235 Bench, 245 Incline, 300 Squat, 255 Power Clean."

Academics: "3.68 GPA and 1360 on the SAT (930 math/reading)."

In the latest Wildcat Nation Members Only exclusive we examine the likelihood of Garland CB/WR prospect Jacques Caldwell giving Kansas State a verbal pledge over Louisville. It was in an earlier network report where Caldwell broke us off the scoop on his Top Two teams when he said: "I'd say my top two teams right now are Louisville and Kansas State."

Bottom Line is if KSU wants a realistic shot to land a commitment from the Garland Owl CB/WR prospect, Jacques Caldwell they must...
