MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State received there first commitment for the Class of 2014 from Dalvin Warmack, a 5-foot-9, 185-pound running back from Blue Springs (Mo.) High School. Warmack was on campus for a Junior Day event this past weekend and saw all that he needed to see to feel confident in making the early commitment to the Wildcats.

"It was the environment at Kansas State that sold me on the program," said Warmack. "I've always had a family feeling being on campus. They have outstanding coaches and a favorable depth chart. I just saw it as a great opportunity. My plan was to wait until mid-summer to make a decision, but after the visit this weekend I asked myself, 'why wait?'.

"It was just a couple of weeks ago on February 22nd when Coach Del Miller called me to offer. He said I reminded him of some of the backs they've had there like Darren Sproles and John Hubert. They've had great success with backs my size. He said he liked my quickness and vision and thought I'd fit well in the offense."

Warmack, the 2012 Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year, led his team to a Missouri Class 6 state championship as a junior. He had 254 carries on the season for 2294 yards (nine yards-per-carry) with 40 rushing touchdowns. He was named first team All-State, Missouri Class 6 Offensive Player of the Year, first team All- Suburban-Gold Conference, Conference Offensive Player of the Year, and received the Thomas A. Simone Memorial Football Award for most outstanding player in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.

"I played as a freshman and sophomore but this was my first year as the feature back," he explained. "As the year went on I feel like I improved on my leadership the most. In my game I'd have to say I got better with my physicality and being able to burst through the hole."

In the early going, Warmack had two other offers from Missouri and Toledo. He said it was the feeling he got this weekend that sealed the deal for the Wildcats.

"I've always received great hospitality when I'm there," Warmack said. "We looked at the facilities which are very nice. I just got that at-home feeling being there. The campus isn't too big but it's not too small either. My favorite part of the visit was getting the chance to talk with Coach Snyder one-on-one. I talked a little with the running backs coach. He told he loves my film and would love having me there to coach."

In the Missouri Class 6 state championship game played at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Warmack had 23 carries for 181 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to a 42 to 3 victory over Francis Howell. He said he hopes to make it back to Manhattan for a spring practice and for the annual spring game.
