A Christmas Commit: JUCO DT signs with Beavs

CHRISTMAS CAME AND the Beavers found a 6-3, 290-pound highly sought defensive tackle under their tree. Mike Riley announced on Christmas Day that Edwin Delva has signed a National Letter of Intent to play football for the Beavers. The junior college transfer is expected to enroll at OSU for spring term. He held double digit offers.

Edwin Delva is a 6-3, 290-pound defensive tackle who made 37 tackles, including 12.5 tackles-for-loss and 3.5 quarterback sacks at Antelope Community College in California last season.

Delva has three years to play two for Oregon State.

"Edwin will make an impact on this team next season," Mike Riley said. "He's an important piece of the puzzle at defensive tackle where we lose a pair of starters off the current team. We are very excited to welcome him to Beaver Nation."

Delva held offers from BYU, Kansas, K-State, Pitt, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Utah, WSU and others.

He is a graduate of North Miami Beach High in 2010, and took one year away from football.

The Beavers have signed three mid-year junior college transfers. Delva joins cornerback Steven Nelson from the College of Sequoias and defensive tackle Siale Hautau from Snow College in the OSU fold. All are expected to enroll at OSU and join the program in time for spring ball.

No. 13 Oregon State continued Christmas Day on Valero Alamo Bowl preparations for Saturday's game against Texas at the Alamodome. Kickoff is 3:45 PST on ESPN.
