Williams to miss AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic

NORMAN, Okla. — The Sooners have their first casualty for the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic.

Head coach Bob Stoops announced Friday afternoon that offensive tackle Daryl Williams, who missed the final two games of the regular season, will sit out of the bowl game against Texas A&M as he continues to rehabilitate from a right knee injury.

The redshirt sophomore earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention after starting the first 10 games of the season at right tackle.

He has 11 career starts and has played in 19 games for the Sooners.

No major complications are expected, and he should be back as a redshirt junior starting next season.

Still up in the air is the status of wide receiver Jalen Saunders, who was arrested just a few weeks ago with possession.

Stoops has said offensive lineman Tyrus Thompson, who was flagged for a 15-yard personal foul penalty against TCU, will not receive any extra punishment by the conference and will be eligible to go in the post-New Year bowl.
