MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State began expressing interest in Melvinson Hartfield, Jr. at the beginning of his senior season at South Oak Cliff in the Dallas area. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound defensive back kept the Wildcat coach abreast of how his season was going by sending them highlights throughout the fall.

The move paid off with an offer which Hartfield was eager to accept. "My offer came on Monday and it only took me a couple of days to let Coach Smith know I was ready to be a Wildcat," said Melvinson Hartfield.
