PULLEN, KELLY TO PLAY IN PRE-DRAFT EVENT

K-State's outside-inside punch of Jacob Pullen and Curtis Kelly are still playing basketball as the Wildcat pair have been invited to play in the Portsmouth Invitational on April 6-9. The event annual attracts roughly 200 NBA scouts.

Seniors Jacob Pullen and Curtis Kelly have received bids to play in the prestigious Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, which is set for April 6-9 at Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Va.

Operating since 1953, the Portsmouth Invitational is one of the preeminent NBA pre-draft camps with approximately 200 NBA representatives in attendance. The four-day tournament consists of 12 games with the 64 invited college seniors playing on eight teams of eight players.

Pullen will be playing for Roger Brown's squad in the tournament and will team with Jeff Allen (Virginia Tech), Papa Dia (SMU), Jon Diebler (Ohio State), Justin Harper (Richmond), Sam Muldrow (South Carolina), Andrew Goudelock (College of Charleston), Justin Hurtt (Tulsa). The squad will begin play on Thursday at 8 p.m. CDT against Cherry, Bakaert and Holland, which includes Gilbert Brown (Pittsburgh), Dwight Hardy (St. John's) and Corey Stokes (Villanova).

Kelly will be playing for Sales Systems Limited and will team with Mike Tisdale (Illinois), Anatoly Bose (Nicholls State), Matthew Bryan-Amaning (Washington), Kevin Anderson (Richmond) , Cory Higgins (Colorado), Demontez Stitt (Clemson) and Brad Wanamaker (Pittsburgh). The squad will open play in the tournament on Wednesday at 8 p.m. CDT against K&D Rounds Landscaping, which includes Jimmy Butler (Marquette), Blake Hoffarber (Minnesota) and Chris Warren (Mississippi).

Although Pullen and Kelly are on teams in the opposite ends of the tournament bracket, there is an opportunity they could play against each other in the championship, third-place game or consolation bracket.
